The California State Bar invites you to a FREE MCLE (2.75-hours, which includes 1-hour of Ethics Credit!)

What: Basic Fee Arbitrator Training (free!)

When: March 28, 2019

Where: State Bar of California, 845 South Figueroa Street (DTLA)

Time: 5:45 pm - 8:45 pm

This training session is offered to all prospective and current volunteers who arbitrate attorney-client fee disputes for the State Bar and Southern California bar association Mandatory Fee Arbitration programs. This course provides the basic training required to serve as a fee arbitrator for either the State Bar or a county bar association. Attorneys and non-attorneys are encouraged to attend this valuable training session and to apply to
become arbitrators for the Mandatory Fee Arbitration Program. Speakers will address recent developments in fee arbitration and other important topics such as:

Writing an Enforceable Award
Statute of Limitations
Effect of Conflicts of Interest
Arbitrator Disclosure Requirements
Controlling the Proceeding

Once you have this training, you can volunteer your time as a fee arbitrator with the SMBA's Fee Arbitration Program. It's a great way to give back to your community and get mediation and arbitration experience.
